This is a Mossad spy, aged 37, who goes by the name of Zev William Barkan. He is on the run from authorities in New Zealand. Some sources also give the name of this man as "Ze'ev Barkan".
This photograph of him is the one he submitted to New Zealand authorities when he made a phony application for a New Zealand passport using the name of a wheel-chair bound cerebral palsy sufferer.
Barkan, it is believed, has now left New Zealand and is on the run.
Barkan was in and out of New Zealand several times in the months running up to his phony application.
On those earlier visits he was using an American passport.
The NSM has been unable to establish if this was genuine or not.
Two men allegedly caught up in Barkan's activities are Uri Kelman, 30, and Eli Cara, 50, who were recently convicted in the Auckland District Court on passport fraud charges. They are the small fry in this operation. The real big fish is "Barkan".
It is believed that Kelman and Cara (or Kara as the name is sometimes spelled) had instructions ordering them to pick up a New Zealand passport for Barkan after he left the country on March 20.
It has been confirmed by the Austrian Foreign Ministry that "Barkan" worked at the Israeli embassies in Vienna. He is also reported to have been attached to the Israeli embassy in Belgium.
TVNZ has reported that a senior agent from Mossad had visited New Zealand security officials two months ago, before the passport fraud story hit the headlines. The agent was spoken to about New Zealand's concerns about the operations being undertaken by Mossad agents and fears that "sleeper agents" were based in New Zealand.
They were right about the sleeper.
The day after Uriel Kelman and Eli Cara were caught Tony Resnick, a former member of the Auckland Jewish Council, suddenly left his job at the Auckland University of Technology and flew out of the country. Some sources give Resnick's surname as "Reznik".
Reznik aka Resnick lived in Israel for 13 years and had served in the Israel Defense Forces.
Mr Resnick, 35, was a respected and well-liked paramedic with the St John Ambulance in Auckland before taking a job as a lecturer in the division of healthcare practice at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) two years ago.
It was presumably while working as a paramedic that Resnick met the cerebral palsy sufferer whose identity was stolen.
On March 24, the day after Kelman and Cara were arrested, he was expected at lectures but did not turn up. The Weekend Herald reported that he boarded a flight to Hong Kong. His wife and children left several days later.
Students were told he had had to go overseas because a friend had been in a car accident.
In June, he resigned from abroad, telling AUT he was unable to return to New Zealand because of family medical reasons.
Mr Resnick, a practising Jew, was born in New Zealand but has lived in Israel.
The house where he stayed with his family was empty and locked up when checked by reporters for the Weekend Herald.
His father, Selwyn, said his son was abroad and he did not know when he would be back. He refused further comment.
New Zealand intelligence services obtained concrete evidence that Cara and Kelman are Mossad agents by bugging their phones.
Covert surveillance was undertaken after a New Zealand official became suspicious about the passport application, the Herald said.
Jews in New Zealand deny that there was any involvement of Mossad in these events.
