St Louis Front Line Action Report

Wow, what a day we had in the gateway city! Anyone who missed this had to have had a very boring day. Ours was a huge success! The day started earlier for some who were driving out from various locations, such as Springfield and Kansas City and a Klan member driving up from Arkansas.

At first while we were waiting at our linkup location, someone called in an anonymous "tip" saying that a group of Nazis were screaming racial slurs. Thus prompting police to come out and investigate. The fact that they had only sent a single cruiser says a lot.

The officer could tell right away that the accusation was false and after we notified him that the police chief in Frontenac was waiting for our arrival he wished us a good day and was on his way.

Upon our arrival at the protest site we were greeted by the Chief of Police and a few officers who were extremely cordial and professional. After reminding us to stay in the public right of way [read: sidewalk.] told us to be good - have fun. We assured them we would and unloaded all our signs and flags. Realizing we didn't have the fliers Beth and SGT Christina Drake made a quick run back to the link up location to pick them up.

Upon their return we had settled on the street corner nearest a busy intersection. Choosing this, rather than where theatre goers would be turning in, in favor of being seen by more people as it was more likely, with such a high traffic area we would also be seen by those who might be open to the message and that's the main reason we're out there. Taking it to the streets so other white folk might realize they aren't so alone. Of course, not everyone realizes we are fighting for THEM.

About a half hour after our arrival a self described college student, who's "best friend is Jewish" started in on us. Asking all sorts of questions and not wanting to hear the answers. Everything we would say in response would be met with "that's not what I'm talking about!" Calling us ignorant and closed minded but practically putting her hands over her ears when asked to open her eyes, to think for herself. What a waste.

After about an hour and fifteen minutes we started to contemplate winding things down.

It was going kind of slow with about a 50/50 reaction between positive and negative responses. That's when the fun began! Slowly a group of counter-protesters started to form up across the street, consisting mainly of the usual communists, liberals, jews, and a few homosexuals. Well I guess we're not going anywhere now! People started coming out of the stores and restaurants to get a peek at all the commotion: cameras, cell phones, video recorders, people slowing down almost causing a traffic jam until the cops started yelling at them to keep moving. Now this is what I'm talking about! Why couldn't they have showed up sooner? I guess it just took that long for them to put the pipe down.

Unfortunately, after about another forty-five minutes to an hour we had to start wrapping things up as comrades had to work the next day and a several hour drive ahead of them. However, our day wasn't over quite yet.

Afterwards several of us stopped to get a bite to eat and when we were finished we crossed the street to the local Jew-Mart to use the phone. As we were saying our goodbye's a gentleman approached SS Mann Boswell and myself and asked us who we were and complimented us on our testicular fortitude to take it to the streets like we do. So, we both gave him a card and wished him a good day. If that wasn't enough, after Beth and I got back in town we stopped at a local filling station to refuel and were greeted by two more people in the parking lot and store who gave us their support and asked a few questions. Maybe there is a sliver of hope in our mostly liberal race mixing town after all.

In conclusion, I would just like to extend my deepest thanks to SS Mann Boswell and his entire family, Sgt. Knowles and other members of the Kansas City unit, Angela, Cynthia and her family from Springfield and Klansmen Jeremy and Craig; last but not least Paul and Beth from my St. Louis unit. Without everyone's participation this event could not have been a success. I salute each and every one of you!

Beth and I look forward to seeing everyone in Omaha next month. Until then SIEG HEIL!
